Dr. Melissa Wawrzynek is native of the Philadelphia area. After completing her Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry at Chestnut Hill College in Philadelphia, she earned her doctorate at Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine. Dr. Wawrzynek graduated in the top percentile of her class and was the recipient of numerous academic scholarships and clinical awards. Her academic success afforded her the opportunity for residency training at Crozer-Keystone Health System, one of the premier training programs in the country due to its cutting-edge technology and surgical techniques.
During her residency Dr. Wawrzynek completed a rotation in Limb Lengthening and Deformity Correction at the Rubin Institute for Advanced Orthopedics in Baltimore. Her residency provided Dr. Wawrzynek with specialized training in Diabetic Foot Reconstruction, Foot and Ankle Trauma, as well as Pediatric Foot and Ankle Surgery. Dr. Wawrzynek has also received advanced training from the Synthes AO Foundation in Foot and Ankle Surgery. In addition to her residency training, she is certified in Ankle Arthroscopy by the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons. Dr. Melissa Wawrzynek is a proud member of the American Podiatric Medical Association, American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons and Pennsylvania Podiatric Medical Association. She has hospital affiliations with Mercy Suburban Hospital System and Paoli Surgery Center.
Aside from staying abreast with advances in Foot and Ankle Surgery, Dr. Wawrzynek enjoys spending her free time with her husband and daughter. She also is an avid fitness enthusiast and enjoys running, swimming and playing softball.
